The government has agreed to maintain stringent enforcement of the Covid-19 safety standard operating procedures as the number of coronavirus cases continues to climb (SOPs).
Several eateries in Lahore’s district administration were shut down for violating Covid-19 SOPs.
On the orders of the deputy commissioner of Lahore, district administration officers visited restaurants and eateries in various parts of the city to comply with the coronavirus SOPs.
They closed down a number of establishments on Gurumangat Road and Kasuri Road for breaking the Covid-19 SOPs.
All of the sealed eateries were not following coronavirus SOPs, and their employees were not vaccinated, according to Model Town Assistant Commissioner Zeeshan Nadeem.
He emphasized that the local government had initiated a crackdown on eateries and enterprises that did not follow the coronavirus SOPs.
According to the latest data released by the Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department, 1,773 new coronavirus cases were reported in the province in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases registered to 466,210. 431,987 patients have made a full recovery. Punjab has 21,109 current coronavirus cases, according to the departments.
According to the data, there were 1,175 new coronavirus cases in Lahore, 200 in Rawalpindi, 61 in Faisalabad, 45 in Sialkot, 37 in Multan, 30 in Gujranawala, 26 in Sargodha, 21 in Sheikhupura, 15 in Jhelum, 14 in Bahawalpur, 12 in Okara, 11 in Kasur, 10 in Gujrat, nine in Sahiwal, eight each in Nan During the past 24 hours, the virus took five lives in Lahore, two in Rawalpindi, and one each in Sheikhupura and Multan, bringing the total number of coronavirus-related deaths in the province to 13,411.
Imran Sikandar Baloch, Punjab’s provincial health secretary, said that over 9.38 million coronavirus tests have been performed in the province, including 20,041 in the last 24 hours. Lahore has the highest positive test result ratio of almost 15.8%, followed by Rawalpindi with 12.5 percent, Multan with 5.5 percent, Faisalabad with 4.7 percent, and Gujranwala with 2.5 percent.
The health secretary urged residents to follow coronavirus safety procedures to prevent the disease from spreading, emphasizing that prevention was the only option.
He urged citizens to be vaccinated as soon as possible. The government is making every effort to vaccinate all individuals above the age of 12.
He also encouraged people to stay away from outdoor and crowded areas, use face masks, and maintain social distancing.
Meanwhile, under the ‘Lahore wears mask’ campaign, Lahore Division Commissioner Capt (retd) Muhammad Usman handed over 100,000 coronavirus masks and letters to Punjab Deputy Post Master General Dr. Anwar Kharal, who will distribute them free of charge to Lahore residents.
Masks in envelopes with a coronavirus prevention message will be distributed to individuals based on addresses submitted to the commissioner’s office by Lahore Electric Supply Company.
To safeguard civilians, Usman said imported, washable coronavirus masks would be distributed in mosques, churches, markets, government departments, and educational institutions.
He said that 7.8 million masks had arrived in Lahore, with another seven million on the way. More ways were being investigated to deliver Covid-19 masks to citizens, he said, in order to reach every door. Employees of the postal service were also given masks by the commissioner.
Deputy PMG Kharal said Pakistan Post would support the great aim of rescuing citizens and praised the collaboration for delivering free masks to every home.
