PM directs authorities for construction of cricket stadium in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday urged competent authorities to develop an international-standard cricket stadium in Islamabad.

He claimed the government will develop a state-of-the-art cricket stadium in Islamabad while chairing a meeting of the National Coordination Committee for Housing, Construction, and Development in Islamabad.

The federal government would deliver 12,400 low-cost and high-quality flats to inhabitants of Islamabad’s Kachi Abadis, according to the Prime Minister. He also emphasised the importance of establishing commercial structures in Islamabad’s most affluent areas through a public-private cooperation.

Capital Development Authority and Naya Pakistan Housing Authority will provide subsidy for these flats, according to the meeting. In addition to keeping monthly instalments to a low, all municipal amenities will be provided in these units.

All cities’ boundaries should be clearly established to prevent unintended growth and to safeguard green spaces, he stressed.

The prime minister directed that all necessary measures be taken to safeguard forests and ecological variety.

Federal Ministers Shaukat Tarin and Ch. Fawad Hussain, AJK Prime Minister Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan Niazi, Minister of State Farrukh Habib, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Dr. Shehbaz Gill, Governor State Bank, AJK Ministers Sardar Tanvir Ilyas and Khawaja Farooq, Chairman Naya Pakistan Housing and Development Authority, and senior officers were present at the meeting.

It’s worth noting that during his meeting with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja in Lahore on January 1, Prime Minister Imran Khan gave the green light to the development of a state-of-the-art cricket stadium in Islamabad.
