Positivity rate for COVID-19 rises to 1.8 percent

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has reported 898 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours.

According to the latest numbers released by the Countrywide Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), a total of 49,673 samples were tested during this time period, with 898 proving positive, resulting in a national positivity rate of 1.8 percent, up from 1.42 percent yesterday.

The number of people who have died as a result of the pandemic has risen to 28,950 after five more people died from the virus in the last 24 hours.

A total of 652 COVID-19 patients are in critical care in various hospitals around the country.

Earlier this year, during the fifth wave of the COVID-19, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) extended the health emergency across the province for three months.

According to the provincial government’s announcement, the health emergency has been prolonged due to an increase in the number of COVID-19 Omicron strain patients.

The emergency will be in effect until March 31, according to the notification.
