ISLAMABAD: Another alleged recording of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz has surfaced, in which she can be heard discussing manipulating a panel of a news programme on Geo News with her close friend, Senator Pervaiz Rasheed.
According to the tape obtained, Maryam Nawaz and Pervaiz Rasheed discussed issuing orders to Geo News for inducting their guy into the panel, as well as criticising journalists who were not towing their line and were giving independent thoughts.
“They have added Hasan Nisar in Report Card and you know he abuses PML-N while Irshad Bhatti has also been added and he also speaks filth against us,” Rasheed said while also highlighting how renowned journalist Mazhar Abbas taunts and makes fun of PML-N.
“Babar Sattar also has an independent opinion,” he could be heard saying in the audio for Sattar, who is now a judge of the IHC.
Furthermore, Pervaiz Rasheed could be heard explaining why Hafeez Ullah Niazi was removed from the panel and his newspaper column was halted. “Those who are barking against us have been appointed to the panel,” the PML-N Senator continued, clearly referring to the Geo News panellist.
Maryam Nawaz responded by saying she will ask about this with the Geo management, claiming that it was a prejudiced act against them.
Furthermore, Maryam Nawaz was overheard instructing Pervaiz Rasheed to deliver ‘baskets’ to two journalists who had been brought from Azerbaijan by ‘Abbu’—an apparent allusion to Nawaz Sharif.
“One should be given to Nusrat Javed and other to Rana Jawad,” she said.
