ISLAMABAD: According to the local news media, KE subscribers’ electricity bills will increase by Rs5.50 per unit for three months due to fuel cost modifications.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) will hold a hearing on the KE’s proposal today (Monday).
According to the information, the authority will consider KE’s proposed adjustment request under the Multi-Year Tariff (MYT) 2017-2023 for monthly fuel costs adjustment (FCA) for the month of November 2021 and quarterly adjustment for the quarter ending September 2021.
The KE has asked for a Rs0.32 rise in FCA for November 2021 and a Rs5.18 increase in quarterly adjustment (July to September 2021).
NEPRA has issued an invitation to all interested and affected parties to file objections as allowed by law.
Meanwhile, a KE official has denied reports of a Rs5.50 per unit hike, stating that Karachi’s sole power supply provider has requested a 31 paisa per unit increase as part of the fuel adjustment.
NEPRA has previously deferred its decision on a Rs4.33 per unit power rate hike due to a monthly fuel price adjustment for the month of November 2021 for consumers of all power distribution companies (DISCOs) except KE on December 29, 2021.
In its appeal, the CPPA reported that 8.24 billion units of power were generated in November at a cost of Rs66 billion.
