Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that an office of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) had been formed in Kabul and that work on the education of young Afghan girls was being carried out.
“Recommendations regarding Afghanistan were presented in the 17th OIC foreign ministers meeting, and [seeing] the work being carried out on the recommendations of the OIC is welcoming,” he stated.
“The senior scholars from the OIC countries also visited Afghanistan. We are working on the education of the young Afghan girls,” he emphasized.
“In Afghanistan, 97 percent of the population is falling below the poverty line. The people of Afghanistan are waiting for the support of the OIC,” the OIC secretary general said.
“Pakistan is a strong member of the OIC. The OIC has been supporting Pakistan on the Kashmir issue for four decades,” he pointed out.
Both leaders had spoken in a joint press conference in Islamabad.
