Four top FBR officers have been fired. Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah, the Federal Tax Ombudsman, has recommended that four top FBR officials be fired for giving false tax refunds.
The tax ombudsman issued a “red alert” and suggested that the former Lahore tax commissioner and his staff be fired for allegedly providing bogus tax refunds totaling Rs123.03 million.
Dr. Asif Mehmood Jah took suo moto notice, and after a thorough inquiry, it was discovered that grade-21 students Chaudhary Tariq Muhammad, Syed Nadeem Hussain Rizvi, Dr. Sarmad Qureshi, and Deputy Commissioner IR Ishfaq Ahmed were engaged in the bogus tax refund.

The corporations that got these bogus tax returns were also listed in the red card, according to the ombudsman’s proposal.
The false tax refund scam took place between 2007 and 2011, and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) took no action against the officers involved.
Field officers from the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) and Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL) have also been accused of negligence and even provided cooperation in this matter.
