Prime Minister Imran Khan has called an NCC meeting for Friday at 3:00 p.m. at the PM House. The meeting would be briefed on the COVID-19 situation around the country.

NCC would be briefed by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on the efforts being taken to restrict the spread of Omicron cases.
According to sources, a significant decision would be made at the NCC meeting in light of the Covid-19 situation in the country under the Omicron danger.
On Thursday, six more suspected instances of Omicron, a novel variety of Covid-19, were discovered in Karachi.
Patients suspected of possessing the Omicron strain, according to provincial health department authorities, had a travel history. They stated that two of them arrived in the port city from the United Kingdom, while the remainder came from South Africa, where this strain of the fatal virus was detected for the first time.
According to the sources, the patients’ samples were submitted to a private hospital for genome sequencing, which validates the virus’s exact variant, and they were then moved to a quarantine centre.
The National Institute of Health (NIH) confirmed Pakistan’s first Covid-19 Omicron variant case in a woman patient from the port city on December 13.
The National Institutes of Health announced on Twitter that it has “confirmed (through whole genome sequencing) that a recently suspected sample from Karachi is definitely the ‘Omicron variant’ of SARS-CoV2.”
