OIC CFM: PM Imran Khan says ‘helping Afghanistan is our religious duty.’

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan stated on Sunday that if the world does not respond, it will be the worst man-made disaster in Afghanistan’s history, and that it is our religious obligation to assist Afghans.

PM Imran Khan made the remarks while delivering the keynote address at the 17th extraordinary session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) in Islamabad today.

No country, according to PM Khan, has endured as many issues as Afghanistan. He went on to say that the Afghan people have fallen into poverty, that 70% of Afghanistan’s budget is reliant on foreign help, and that bank assets have been frozen since the Taliban took control of the country.

After 41 years, he remarked, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is holding an exceptional session in Pakistan.

The premier expressed regret for the international community’s inaction on the Afghan problem. If the procedures are not followed soon, he warned of a catastrophic humanitarian situation.

According to him, the international world has imposed three conditions on help to Afghanistan.

PM Khan believes that every country has its unique culture, and that Afghanistan is no exception. We don’t count general social attitude in Afghanistan, he remarked.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has warned that the anarchy in Afghanistan could lead to an increase in terrorism. He maintained that Pakistan is the country most hit by the Afghan war. He went on to say that the instability in Afghanistan will affect not only Pakistan, but the entire world.

Following 9/11, Islamophobia has intensified crimes against Muslims in western nations, according to the premier, and it is the responsibility of OIC member countries to promote Islamabad’s positive identity. He urged Muslim intellectuals to become involved in the fight against blasphemous cartoons.
