While the rest of the globe was reeling from the deadly effects of the Omicron variant, Pakistan had just two deaths and 259 coronavirus infections in the previous 24 hours (Saturday), according to data issued by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Sunday morning.
According to NCOC data, the overall death toll has now risen to 28,872 after the addition of two new deaths, while the total number of infections has now risen to 1,291,108 after the addition of the new 259 cases.
A total of 42,640 tests were done across Pakistan in the last 24 hours (Saturday), with a positivity rate of 0.60 percent. There were 656 patients in critical care.
In the last 24 hours (Saturday), 251 individuals have recovered from the virus, bringing the overall number of recoveries to 1,252,647. The overall number of active cases in the country was 9,589 as of Sunday.
So far, 479,090 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 444,164 cases in Punjab, 180,976 cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 108,259 cases in Islamabad, 33,551 cases in Balochistan, 34,640 cases in Azad Kashmir, and 10,428 cases in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Furthermore, the pandemic has claimed the lives of 13,058 people in Punjab, 7,649 in Sindh, 5,907 in KP, 964 in Islamabad, 745 in Azad Kashmir, 363 in Balochistan, and 186 in Gilgit Baltistan thus far.
