PM meets King Charles, condoles death of Queen Elizabeth

On Monday, King Charles III and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met at a banquet the King arranged for dignitaries.

In his meeting, PM Shehbaz expressed his condolences on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. For generations of Commonwealth inhabitants, he noted, the late king served as a source of inspiration and fortitude.

The prime minister noted that Her Majesty’s two trips to Pakistan left the Pakistani people with warm recollections. The Royal family’s affinity for Pakistan’s people has only grown stronger over time.

The prime minister wished His Majesty well on his ascension to the throne on behalf of the people and government of Pakistan and expressed the hope that he would carry on his mother’s legacy by further fostering friendship among the Commonwealth countries.

His Majesty was highly respected by the people of Pakistan, who eagerly anticipated his visit as soon as possible.

In response to the severe floods, Pm Shehbaz also thanked the British monarch for the royal family’s sympathies and support. He went on to say that Pakistan was extremely grateful for the British government’s and the public’s reaction to the request for assistance.

Meanwhile, PM Shahbaz tweeted to show sympathy for Japan, “I express my sincere sympathy to the people & government of Japan who are facing the ravages of Hurricane Nanmodal.”
