If Imran Khan fails to appear before the IC, the FIA will arrest him. According to sources, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has decided to arrest PTI Chairman Imran Khan if he fails to appear before the investigation committee or answer notices about the illegal funding case.
According to the publication, the FIA would seek permission from a court of law to arrest Imran Khan in order to obtain information about the party’s funds and accounts.
“After issuing three notices, the final decision to arrest the PTI chairman could be made,” the sources said.
The investigation into prohibited fundraising was begun against the PTI after the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) found that the party received unlawful funding. Following the verdict, papers were sent to key party leaders, requesting information on bank accounts and monies received from abroad.
The FIA issued a second notice to Khan on Friday after he declined to appear before the FIA inquiry team in response to the first demand to reveal information about the party funds and accounts.
According to the sources, five more PTI firms were discovered that were not identified in the reports provided to the ECP and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
These companies are based in the United States, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Belgium, they and the FIA have collected their audit reports.
The FIA Banking Circle has repeatedly requested that Khan reveal details of the bank accounts, but Khan, through his legal counsel, has stated that he is not answerable to the FIA and that it cannot compel him to provide any information, according to sources.
According to the sources, the PTI head threatened the FIA with legal action if the notice was not withdrawn within two days.
“The FIA committee has gathered enough evidence to convict [Khan] of concealing the truth from the ECP,” the sources claimed.
The third, and most likely final, warning would be issued next week, far before the end of August, they said.
