President Dr. Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that Hazrat Imam Hussain’s (RA) supreme sacrifice served as a lighthouse for Muslims and conveyed the message that one should be the flag-bearer of truth and righteousness in the face of oppression and tyranny.
In a statement for Youm-e-Ashur, the president stated that Muharram-ul-Haram was a month of respect, dignity, and blessings in Islamic history. The most significant occasions in Islamic history took place in this month, he said.
He declared that the Muslim Ummah will get exceptional benefits and importance on Youm-e-Ashur, or the tenth of Muharram.
He recalled that on this day, Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) embraced martyrdom alongside his family and other devoted followers for Islam, truth, and righteousness. He did so in defiance of a tyrannical ruler.
The President claimed that while the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) grandson gave his life, he refused to submit to the powers of evil.
He noted that on this day, Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), his family, and their devoted followers gave Islam a new start with their blood by setting a tremendous example of bravery, heroism, and sacrifice.
He claimed that every Muslim was inconsolable at this tragic event and the extreme cruelty shown to the Prophet Muhammad’s family (PBUH).
He emphasized that people should speak out against the forces that were enacting oppression and rejecting Allah’s commands.
At both the individual and group levels, “we should always be prepared for struggle with patience, steadfastness, and courage for triumph and success of virtue.”
“We shall succeed in this life and the hereafter when we follow the faith of Allah, the life of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and the life of Imam Hussain (RA), ” he stated.
“We should promise that we will exert every effort to emulate Imam Hussain’s (RA) example and to help the people of the nation, especially those who are struggling as a result of the floods,”
“I ask Allah All-Powerful to make my nation affluent and advanced and to keep us safe from all types of catastrophes,”
Message from Shehbaz Sharif
The supreme sacrifice made by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his family on Tuesday clearly distinguished between the forces of truth and untruth, as well as between the oppressor and the oppressed, prime minister Shehbaz Sharif wrote in a tweet. The struggle for the right to self-determination has been motivated by a moral ideal established by the great Imam.
He added, “Imam Hussain (RA) represents a voice of the voiceless and is an advocate of unity, brotherhood, morality and truth. His message of resistance and defiance will continue to inspire humanity to aspire for a moralistic world order that is based on universal principles of equality and freedom.”
He further stated, “As humanity navigates multiple challenges and seeks to break the logjam it finds itself in, it must seek guidance from the exemplary character of Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions. The virtues of patience, loyalty, unity, and tolerance can defeat the forces of division, chaos, and anarchy.”
