Federal govt to select four new top bureaucrat of Punjab

The federal government is considering four senior officers for the position of new chief secretary of Punjab.

According to official sources, Babar Hayat Tarar, Abdullah Khan Sumbal, Capt (r) Asadullah Khan, and Shehryar Sultan are competing for the position of chief secretary of Punjab.

The federal government has reportedly decided not to appoint the chief secretary recommended by the Punjab government.

Earlier, Punjab Chief Secretary Kamran Ali Afzal informed the secretary of the Establishment Division of his refusal to work with the new Punjab government.

In a letter, he explained that personal issues prompted his resignation as chief secretary. In his letter, he stated, “Therefore, I cannot continue to serve in the same capacity with the new Punjab government.”
