ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed described the Pakistan Democratic Movement’s (PDM) decision to organize a long march on March 23, Pakistan Day, as “very reckless and immoral.”
Rasheed was referring to PDM head Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s announcement that the Opposition alliance will organize an “anti-inflation march” on March 23 in Islamabad.
In a series of tweets, he claimed, “On March 23 [Pakistan Day], Pakistan’s military forces organize a national parade that is attended by civilians, embassies, and numerous delegates.”
“The federal capital has been placed on high alert for parade preparations. Some highways are even closed two to three days ahead of time “Added he.
The minister persuaded the PDM to postpone their March 23 demonstration, instead of scheduling it for April.
Serving anti-state forces by promoting Pakistan Day as a day of protest, chaos, and disruption, he added.
PDM decides to stretch its powers once more in Islamabad.
“In Islamabad, people from all around the country would come. On March 23, a large anti-inflation protest will take place “Fazl had stated the day before.
He had stated that the PDM’s provincial chapters will prepare for the march.
Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif will convene a meeting in Punjab, Fazl will convene a meeting in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) President Mahmood Khan Achakzai will convene a meeting in Balochistan, and JUI-P President Shah Owais Noorani will convene a meeting in Sindh.
“There will also be a seminar. But first, I’ll meet with the attorneys’ committee, which includes the Supreme Court Bar Association and the Pakistan Bar Council and have consultations “Fazl had added to the conversation.
