LHC declares CM Hamza Shehbaz’s oath as illegal

The Lahore High Court (LHC) declared the election of Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz to be illegal on Thursday after accepting the PTI’s intra-court appeals.

The larger LHC bench, which was presided over by Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan, ruled that Hamza Shehbaz is no longer the chief minister of Punjab and must now take an oath again.

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday accepted the PTI’s appeals against the election of Hamza Shehbaz as Punjab chief minister, dealing a severe blow to the PML-N government in the province.

The decision was made by a 4-1 majority by the larger bench, which was chaired by Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan and included Justices Shahid Jamil, Shehram Sarwar, Sajid Mehmood Sethi, and Tariq Saleem Sheikh.

With his fellow judges, Justice Sajid Mehmood Sethi expressed disagreement.
