US assures advancing partnership with Pakistan

The United States has declared Pakistan to be a partner, and Washington is eager to advance this relationship.

According to US State Department spokesperson Ned Price, Pakistan is an important partner in the region.

Ned Price, speaking at a press conference on Thursday, stated that Secretary Blinken had the opportunity to meet with his Pakistani counterpart in New York last month, during which constructive discussions were held on a wide range of issues, including food security.

He stated that Pakistan is a partner of ours and that we will seek ways to advance that partnership in ways that benefit both our interests and our mutual interests.

Ambassador Masood Khan met US under secretary

On Thursday, Ambassador Masood Khan met with Under Secretary Uzra Zeya at the State Department. The ambassador was warmly welcomed by the Under Secretary, and both agreed to strengthen Pakistan-US relations in a variety of areas through frequent exchanges on mutually beneficial issues.

Following the meeting, Under Secretary Uzra Zeya tweeted that she had a productive discussion with Ambassador Khan about human rights and Pakistan’s support for Afghan relocation efforts and refugees. “I am looking forward to our close collaboration,” she said.

Ambassador Masood Khan expressed his appreciation and stated that the two countries would work together to promote Pak-US dialogue and cooperation in order to strengthen bilateral ties.

During the meeting, Ambassador Masood Khan also thanked Under-Secretary Uzra Zeya for her visit to Pakistan and welcomed the OIC-State Department dialogue, which will take place on May 23-24 in Washington, DC, to promote dialogue between the US and OIC nations.

In late March, Under Secretary of State Uzra Zeya traveled to Islamabad to represent the United States at the OIC-CFM Council of Foreign Ministers Conference.

On that occasion, she emphasized Pakistan’s long-standing ties and partnership with the United States. She also praised Pakistan for providing dignity and safety to Afghan refugees for more than 40 years.
