ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister Imran Khan believes that the prevailing political and economic crises has upset the “powerful quarters.”

In an interview with journalists and anchorpersons on Saturday, the PTI chairman stated that the government’s sole option for resolving the existing situation is to call elections.

After his dismissal in April, the erstwhile prime minister claimed he had two options: ask pardon from “strong quarters” or defend his case in public.

“I decided to go to the people,” Khan told journalists and anchorpersons, referring to his “Azadi March” and the protests that followed after his removal from power.

In the coming days, Khan said he would march to Islamabad and rebutted speculations that the “Azadi March” had come to an end. “No one should think that the march has ended.”

‘Fully confront government’s fascist tactics’

After the Supreme Court’s instructions, the PTI chairman said he would hold a long march with “full force” since the party had awareness of all topics and was prepared to confront what was ahead.

“We have chosen to thoroughly confront the government’s fascist tactics,” the PTI chairman stated, adding that the government appears to be in power for only a month and a half when the next fiscal year’s budget is passed.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) would never approve the coalition government’s budget, Khan continued, adding global institutions were aware of the existing setup’s “incompetence.”

The ousted prime minister said IMF and other countries are aware that the public does not support the current government.
