Police raid PTI leader Alamgir Khan’s home in Karachi

Police raided the home of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Alamgir Khan in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar neighborhood of Karachi late on Friday night, prompting the party’s local leadership to rush to his home on Saturday to learn the reasons for the police action.

A large police contingent besieged Alamgir’s residence, only to return without making an arrest.

Bilal Ghaffar, Arsalan Taj, Raja Azhar, and others from the PTI arrived at Alamgir’s residence and condemned the raid in the strongest terms possible.

They referred to the Sindh Police as “jiyala police” and claimed that the Force acted as a slave of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).

They added that it was unfortunate that the police were conducting raids on the homes of PTI leaders without first filing charges against them.

They added that all of this was being carried out at the direction of Sindh’s chief minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah.

PTI leaders lamented the absence of even warrants prior to the arrests.

They stated that the party’s high command was consulting with legal experts about the situation and that it could call for a protest at any time.

It is pertinent to note that the PTI leaders have been facing the wrath of the Sindh government for some time now, as Haleem Adil Sheikh, the leader of the opposition in the provincial assembly, has been charged in a number of criminal cases.

Earlier, the Islamabad High Court had granted “protective bail” to the PTI leader who feared arrest by the Sindh Police.
