The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has begun to consider possible changes in the categories of centrally contracted players, with a 10 to 15% increase in monthly salaries and fees expected.
“Preliminary talks for new central contracts have begun,” a PCB official said, referring to the fact that the existing contracts of the 20 players will expire on June 30.
According to sources familiar with the situation, the PCB is considering reshuffling, promoting, and demoting players across different categories for the new contracts that will be issued on June 1.
According to the sources, left-handed all-rounder Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Wasim Jr, and Haris Rauf may be offered new contracts, while former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed and leg-spinner Yasir Shah may not.
