The authorities have obtained additional CCTV video footage that sheds additional light on the events leading up to yesterday’s suicide bombing at the University of Karachi (KU).
According to the investigators, a burqa-clad woman can be seen standing on the university grounds when another woman, who later exploded herself, alights from a rickshaw and stands a distance away from the former.
Later, the woman in the burqa approaches and speaks with the suicide bomber, who later walks up to the location where she detonated the suicide jacket.
According to investigators, the woman waited nine minutes for the van carrying Chinese teachers and then blew herself up when the van passed her.
Four people, including three Chinese nationals – two women and a man – were killed and scores more injured when a van parked inside the University caught fire following a powerful explosion on Tuesday.
Rana Sanaullah is scheduled to visit Karachi
