PML-N leader and Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal stated on Tuesday that former Prime Minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan gagged the media and threw his opponents in dungeons during his three and a half years in power.
Speaking outside an accountability court (AC) in Islamabad, where he had gone in connection with the hearing of the Narowal Sports City reference, he said that not even a military dictator had been as ruthless as Imran was when he was prime minister. “He did nothing for the country despite being the strongest premier in the country’s history because the ‘establishment’ was supportive of him,” he said.
According to Ahsan, Pakistan’s relations with the rest of the world deteriorated during the previous PTI administration.
Not only that, he added, but the country’s economy suffered greatly during the PTI administration. “Imran and other leaders of his party should be ashamed that they are raising concerns about the performance of the current coalition government, which is only two weeks old.”
The minister called the PTI’s protests outside the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) offices in the country “blackmailing,” adding that the party chairman did not want anyone to raise questions about his and his party’s alleged corruption. “If there is nothing suspicious in your bank accounts, then submit their records to the ECP,” he told the PTI.
He went on to say that Imran was a ‘disciple’ of Adolf Hitler who was attempting to intimidate state institutions in order to get a ‘clean chit’ in corruption cases. “However, I hope that our institutions are not blackmailed,” he added.
