Sweden is offering a broad range of scholarships for international students, including Pakistanis, covering undergraduate and master’s degree programmes, as the Nordic country continues to attract global talent to its universities.
The scholarships are funded by the Swedish government and leading academic institutions, with many programmes covering full tuition fees, monthly living stipends and, in some cases, travel grants.
Government-Funded and Flagship Scholarships
One of the most prominent programmes is the Swedish Institute Scholarships for Global Professionals (SISGP), which provides full funding, including tuition fees, a monthly stipend of SEK 11,000, and a travel grant. Applications for the 2026 intake close on February 23.

The institute also offers the Pioneering Women in STEM Scholarship, aimed at female students in science and technology fields, with a monthly stipend of SEK 12,000 and a January 25 deadline.
Leading University Scholarships
Several of Sweden’s top universities are offering fully or partially funded awards. The KTH Royal Institute of Technology provides full tuition waivers under its KTH Scholarship programme, while the Stockholm Trio Scholarship and the Stockholm University Scholarship Scheme offer full tuition coverage for selected international students.
Medical and life sciences students can apply for the Global Master’s Scholarship at the Karolinska Institute, while Malmö University and the University of Gothenburg offer excellence and merit-based funding, including the Axel Adler Scholarship.
Broader University-Based Funding
Additional scholarships are available across Sweden’s higher education system, including at Uppsala University, Lund University, Umeå University, and Linköping University. These awards typically include partial tuition waivers and, in some cases, living-cost support.
Education advisers say interest among Pakistani students in Swedish scholarships has risen steadily, driven by Sweden’s English-taught programmes, strong research environment, and post-study career opportunities within the European Union.
Most scholarship deadlines fall between January and February for the 2026 academic year, with applicants advised to prepare academic transcripts and admission documents well in advance.
