Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau Tour Newly Bought $3.1M Montreal Mansion

Pop star Katy Perry was recently seen touring a newly purchased luxury home in Montreal alongside her boyfriend, former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau, as the couple begins a new chapter away from active politics.

Details of the Montreal Property

The historic stone mansion, located in Montreal’s prestigious Outremont neighborhood, was purchased by Trudeau for CAD 4.26 million (approximately $3.1 million USD). Built in 1931, the nearly century-old residence spans 4,965 square feet and sits on a 13,672-square-foot lot near Mount Royal.

The property features:

  • Seven bedrooms and five bathrooms

  • A private home office

  • A full ballroom

  • Dual street access

  • A two-car garage

Surrounded by mature trees and secured by a metal fence, the estate offers privacy and exclusivity in one of Montreal’s most sought-after areas.

Public Appearance at Local Bistro

Earlier this week, the couple was also spotted dining at Leméac, a well-known French bistro located less than a mile from the residence. While bystanders attempted to photograph them, Trudeau reportedly requested privacy. Perry, however, took time to sign an autograph for a young fan.

Real Estate Transaction and Ownership History

The mansion was previously listed for CAD 4.5 million by luxury real estate broker Joseph Montanaro. Trudeau purchased the property from Nicolas Ruggieri, head of Batipart Invest’s Montreal real estate division, who had acquired it in 2023 for CAD 5.425 million.

Public records show that Trudeau financed the purchase through a mortgage from the Bank of Montreal. Annual property taxes are estimated at just under USD 38,000.

Renovation Plans Underway

Renovation activity was observed at the property this week, with contractors on-site, indicating that upgrades or custom modifications are planned as the couple prepares to settle into the residence.

Trudeau’s Post-Political Life

Trudeau stepped down as Canada’s prime minister in March 2025 after nearly a decade in office. In his final year, he earned CAD 406,200 and is eligible for an annual pension of CAD 141,000, in addition to a retirement allowance at age 67. He has also begun commanding six-figure speaking fees through The Harry Walker Agency.
