Sialkot’s incoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise has officially revealed its identity, with OZ Developers announcing “Sialkot Stallionz” as the team name ahead of PSL Season 11.
The announcement was made through the franchise owners’ official social media platforms, ending months of speculation about the branding of the Sialkot-based team, which will enter the league alongside a new Hyderabad franchise.
Name Pays Tribute to Historic Sialkot Stallions
The name Sialkot Stallionz is widely viewed as a tribute to the legendary Sialkot Stallions, the domestic T20 side that dominated Pakistan’s cricket circuit during the 2000s.
The original Stallions were famous for their:
-
Record-breaking winning streak in domestic T20 tournaments
-
Multiple championship titles
-
Strong pipeline of national-level players
Cricket fans across Pakistan still associate Sialkot with that golden era of T20 dominance, making the revival of the “Stallions” identity highly symbolic.

Franchise Bought for Rs. 1.85 Billion Per Year
The Sialkot franchise was secured by Hamza Majeed of OZ Developers, who won the bidding process at Rs. 1.85 billion per year, reportedly making it the most expensive franchise deal in PSL history.
The investment reflects growing commercial confidence in the league and strong expectations for Sialkot’s market and fan base.
Team Selection to Focus on Merit and Performance
In his first media interaction after acquiring the franchise, Hamza Majeed said the team’s recruitment strategy would be strictly performance-driven.
He confirmed that the franchise will:
-
Prioritize top Pakistani domestic and national players
-
Explore Australian players for overseas slots
-
Consider Australian coaching staff if elite local coaches are unavailable
He emphasized that selection decisions would be based on form, fitness, and competitive performance rather than reputation alone.
Jinnah Stadium Revival a Priority for Home Matches
Addressing concerns about home venues, Hamza Majeed acknowledged that Jinnah Stadium, Sialkot, currently requires major upgrades to meet PSL hosting standards.
He said both the franchise and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are committed to reviving the stadium so Sialkot can host home matches in the future.
Until renovations are completed, Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad, is expected to serve as the temporary home ground for the Sialkot Stallionz.
Sialkot and Hyderabad to Expand PSL Footprint
With the addition of the Sialkot Stallionz and a Hyderabad franchise, PSL 11 will mark a significant expansion of the league, bringing professional cricket to more regions and strengthening grassroots engagement.
Cricket analysts believe the move will increase domestic talent discovery and broaden the PSL’s national footprint.
