Winter Holidays Announced for All Schools and Colleges in Islamabad

Islamabad’s federal schools and colleges have formally announced their winter vacation schedule under the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE).

According to an official notification issued by the Directorate, all educational institutions under the federal system, including Islamabad Model Schools and Colleges in urban and rural areas, will remain closed from 26 December 2025 to 3 January 2026 for winter break.

Regular academic activities will resume on Monday, 5 January 2026.

The FDE has further directed that Saturday, 10 January 2026, will be observed as a working day for administrative, teaching, and non-teaching staff. Personnel will attend duty on that day to complete priority tasks already conveyed by the Directorate.

The winter vacation schedule has been communicated to all heads of institutions through Area Education Officers and has been issued with the approval of the Director General, FDE.

At the national level, other provinces have also finalised their winter schedules in view of the cold wave. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, separate timetables have been set according to climate zones: schools in summer areas will close from 1 to 15 January, while institutions in winter zones will observe a longer break from 22 December 2025 to 28 February 2026.

In Sindh, all public and private schools and colleges will shut from 22 to 31 December, with classes resuming on 1 January, and supplementary board examinations continuing as per the existing timetable.

The Punjab government had also announced winter holidays for all schools from 22 December 2025 to 10 January 2026, with teaching set to resume on 10 January.
