Is Glenn Maxwell Ready to Sign Up for PSL 11?

Legendary Australian cricketer Glenn Maxwell has announced he will not play in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) mini-auction on December 15, leading to speculations about his plans of possibly joining the Pakistan Super League (PSL 11).

Maxwell’s announcement came days after South African batter Faf du Plessis backed off from the IPL to explore more opportunities in leagues like the PSL, and Andre Russell transitioned into a power-hitting coach role with the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Emotional message on social media

The Australian all-rounder shared an emotional message on social media, saying he is stepping back after many memorable IPL seasons:

“I’ve decided not to put my name into the auction this year… Thank you for all the support over the years; hopefully see you soon,” Maxwell wrote, signing off as “Cheers, Maxi.”

The message, while signalling a pause, leaves many doors open, especially with Maxwell hinting he isn’t done entertaining fans just yet.

Maxwell was released by the Punjab Kings after a disappointing run last season, followed by an injury setback. The franchise opted for young Aussie Mitchell Owen as his replacement, the same player who earlier landed in a controversy for skipping his PSL contract to play IPL.

With du Plessis pursuing more PSL appearances and Maxwell suddenly available, fans have begun to question: could Pakistan’s top T20 league be his next big stage?

Whether he reunites with familiar international teammates in future PSL editions or chooses a fresh global challenge, Maxwell’s next move is now the headline every franchise is watching closely.
