Punjab’s wildlife authorities have officially announced the start dates for the Francolin hunting season, 24NewsHD TV reported on Wednesday.
The new schedule includes three designated hunting periods, strict rules, and limited access to licensed hunters.
Three Hunting Periods Finalised
The Francolin hunting season will run across three timelines:
- First period: December 1, 2025 – February 15, 2026
- Second period: December 14, 2025 – February 15, 2026
- Third period: January 10, 2026 – February 15, 2026
Hunting will be allowed only on Sundays and only for individuals carrying licensed weapons.
Designated Hunting Grounds Only
Authorities have permitted hunting strictly at approved grounds and open spaces that have been officially prepared for the purpose.
Permit Auctions Announced
- Salt Range Hunting Ground: Auction will begin on December 8 and continue for three days.
- Lahore Safari Zoo: Permit auction will start on December 2, also for three days.
Additionally, Cholistan and Chinkara Public Wildlife Reserves will open for hunting from January 10, 2026, until February 15, 2026.
Ban on Automatic and Electronic Hunting Tools
The wildlife department has imposed a strict ban on:
- Automatic weapons
- Military-grade firearms
- Silencer-equipped guns
- Drones
- Electronic tracking devices
- Air guns
Officials have made it compulsory for all hunters to follow the issued guidelines, warning that violations will result in penalties.
