LAHORE – The Punjab government has reportedly announced the winter holidays schedule for 2025 for educational institutions in the province.
The education department said winter vacations will begin on December 23, 2025, and will run until January 10, 2026.
Reopening on January 13, 2026
Schools in Punjab, both public and private, will remain closed during this period. Educational institutions will reopen on January 13, 2026, marking the end of the winter break.
The schedule applies uniformly to all schools across the province, ensuring that both government and private schools follow the same holiday timeline.

Earlier, the government revised school timings to save the students from the intensifying air pollution crisis
Amid smog mayhem, DG Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Dr Imran Hameed Sheikh confirmed that all government and private schools, including those in Lahore, will now open no earlier than 8:45 am starting Monday, November 3, 2025.
The new schedule will stay in place until January 31, 2026.
Officials said the move targets one of the biggest contributors to morning smog, school-hour traffic, which clogs roads and pumps pollutants into the already suffocating air.
“By easing the early rush-hour pressure, we expect a noticeable drop in vehicular emissions,” the agency said in its statement.
Fine for disobeying orders
The directive is binding for all educational institutions, and the government has issued a stern warning against violations.
