AJK PM sacks five members of his cabinet

Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi has fired five members of his cabinet.

Senior Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, Abdul Majid Khan, Ali Shan Soni, Khawaja Farooq, and Akbar Ibrahim were all removed from Prime Minister Niazi’s cabinet on Thursday.

The ministers were shown the door for misconduct, corruption, and suspicious activities, according to a spokesman for the AJK prime minister.

The firings came two days after AJK Prime Minister Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi faced a no-confidence motion. On April 15, at 10 a.m., AJK Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq called the session to vote on the no-confidence motion.

The motion, which was submitted on Tuesday by the ruling PTI’s Tanveer Ilyas group, included the signatures of 25 members of the AJK Legislative Assembly. Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, a senior minister, was nominated as a candidate for Prime Minister.

In August 2021, Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi was sworn in as Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s 13th prime minister.
