Left-arm fast bowler Waqas Maqsood has announced his retirement from international cricket, drawing the curtain on a career that saw him represent Pakistan at the highest level and shine in domestic competitions for over a decade.

Maqsood made his international debut in November 2018, featuring in a T20 International against New Zealand at the Dubai International Stadium.

He became the 80th cricketer to represent Pakistan in the shortest format of the game.

In his only appearance, he bowled 1.5 overs and took 2 wickets, leaving a brief but impactful mark on the international stage.

Contributions in domestic cricket

Born in Faisalabad, the left-arm quick enjoyed a prolific domestic career between 2011 and 2023. He featured in 81 first-class matches, 56 List A games, and 68 T20 matches, consistently contributing with the ball across formats.

His performances in domestic cricket earned him recognition and ultimately paved the way for his Pakistan debut.

With his retirement, Maqsood joins the list of Pakistan players who had a limited international run but left behind notable domestic records.

At 37, he steps away from international cricket after more than a decade of service to Pakistan’s cricketing structure.
