Aishwarya Rai approaches Delhi court over explicit AI deepfake videos.
Renowned Indian actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has knocked on the Delhi High Court’s doors after her name, images, and voice were allegedly used in pornographic and sexually explicit content generated through artificial intelligence (AI).
According to Indian media reports, Rai’s lawyer, senior advocate Sandeep Sethi, told the court that several online platforms had used the actor’s likeness without consent in ways meant to “satisfy sexual desires”.
The plea stated that morphed, “unreal intimate photographs” of the actor were being circulated widely on websites and social media platforms. It further claimed that some platforms were also collecting money in her name, defrauding unsuspecting users.
Platforms and organisations mentioned in plea
Among the defendants named in Rai’s petition are websites such as aishwaryaworld.com, apkpure.com, bollywoodteeshop.com, the e-commerce platform Etsy, AI-powered chatbots, YouTube channels including NewNWSTamil and Bollywood_CinemaTV07, and even tech giant Google.
Indian government bodies, including the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and the Department of Telecommunications, were also arrayed as parties in the case.

Court orders removal of content
The Delhi High Court, while hearing the plea on Tuesday, hinted at issuing an interim order to restrain platforms and individuals from using Rai’s likeness without consent.
It also said that further directions would be issued for the removal of objectionable links and content.
The matter has been posted before the joint registrar on November 7, with further proceedings scheduled for January 15.
