Asif Ali gets retirement from International Cricket.
Pakistan’s hard-hitting middle-order batter Asif Ali has decided to get retirement from international career, bringing an end to a six-year chapter often defined by clutch cameos.
The 33‑year‑old confirmed the news via social media on September 1, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to represent his country.
“Wearing the Pakistan jersey has been the greatest honour of my life, and serving my country on the cricket field has been my proudest chapter,” Asif wrote while announcing his retirement.
Career highlights
Since his debut in 2018, Asif Ali has featured in 21 ODIs and 58 T20Is, scoring 959 runs across the two formats. Cast largely in a finisher’s role, he recorded strike rates of 133.87 in T20Is and 121.65 in ODIs to help the team as much as he could.
His career‑defining moment came at the 2021 T20 World Cup, when Pakistan needed 24 off 12 against Afghanistan.
Asif Ali launched Karim Janat for four sixes in a single over, smashing 25 off 7 balls and sealing victory with an over to spare, which remains one of Pakistan’s most memorable T20I finishes in recent history.
