Schools teachers with poor class 9 results may be dismissed

The poor results of the Class 9 board exams in Punjab have compelled the provincial government to take strict action against schools and teachers whose students consistently perform poorly.

Action begin from Patoki

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikander Hayat has announced that schools with low pass rates will face immediate scrutiny.

He confirmed that action will begin from his own tehsil of Patoki, where a list of schools with poor results in both 9th and 10th classes has already been sought.

Possible dismissal of teachers

The minister revealed that the option of dismissing teachers in schools with repeated poor results is under consideration.

According to him, the government cannot tolerate negligence in education, as it also costs the people of Punjab billions of rupees “with almost zero output”.

List of schools demanded

The Education Department has been directed to provide detailed lists of schools across Lahore and other districts where students have failed to achieve satisfactory results. Once compiled, action will be taken against both school administrations and responsible teachers.

“For the first time, the School Education Dept is doing a complete analysis of the Grade 9 & 10 results. We Have Shortlisted Schools (sic) With Horrible Results Year After Year, Costing The Citizens of Punjab Billions of Rupees with Almost Zero Output. We Will Make Sure They are Given Removal from Service as Punishment,” he posted on his official X account.

Rana Sikander emphasised that the government’s priority is to improve learning outcomes and restore parents’ confidence in the public school system.

He added that accountability measures will be applied fairly and without discrimination.
