Hundreds of E-Taxis announced on interest-free installments in Punjab.

The Punjab government has prepared a plan to introduce an interest-free electric taxi scheme aimed at creating jobs and promoting clean transportation.

Under the Punjab E-Taxi Scheme, 1,100 electric vehicles will be distributed in the first phase through interest-free instalment plans.

E-Taxi Program 2025

This move is part of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s broader E-Taxi Program 2025, which seeks to phase out traditional fuel-based taxis and replace them with environmentally friendly alternatives.

Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan chaired a high-level meeting to review key aspects of the project, including vehicle models, pricing, and charging infrastructure.

The scheme is specifically designed to support unemployed youth by making it easier for them to own and operate zero-emission taxis.

The provincial government has partnered with Dewan Motors to supply locally assembled EVs, including the Honri VC20 and VC30, offering ranges of 200 km and 300 km per charge, respectively.

To support these vehicles, a strong charging network is being developed. In Lahore, charging stations will be installed every 3 kilometres, with expansion plans underway across Punjab.
