In a surprising twist, a resolution has been submitted in the Punjab Assembly by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker Rukhsana Kausar, demanding a nationwide ban on the practice of styling or designing beards.

In the resolution, the Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) described the beard as a revered Sunnah of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

It stated that shaping or altering beards in fashionable styles is not only disrespectful but also a grave sin.

The document further claimed that such practices mock the Sunnah and go against Islamic values.

The resolution urged the federal government to introduce strict legislation to curb the trend. It called for legal penalties not only for those who get their beards designed but also for barbers and salons involved in the act.

Rukhsana Kausar argued that such measures are necessary to preserve religious norms and protect Islamic traditions from being distorted in the name of fashion.

This is not the first time the PML-N MPA has raised this concern. She had earlier submitted a similar resolution in July 2020, calling for a complete ban on beard styling.
