‘Not natural’: Humaira Asghar’s parents raise doubts about actress’s death.

The late model and actress Humaira Asghar’s parents have finally addressed the tragic passing of their daughter by raising doubts about the nature of her death and rejecting claims that they had disowned her.

In interviews with local television channels, Humaira’s father, Dr Asghar, and her mother denied media speculation that they had abandoned their daughter in death.

They also ruled out suggestions that she had been facing financial hardship at the time of her death.

“It is untrue that we refused to take her body. I had sent my son to Karachi to receive it once legal formalities were completed,” said Dr Asghar. “We were informed by the police after relatives contacted us. Since post-mortem and procedural work had yet to be completed, we had to wait.”

Humaira Asghar’s body was found on July 8, 2025, inside a storeroom of her rented apartment, where she had reportedly been living alone since 2018.

The flat was located in DHA Phase IV. Initial findings from the autopsy indicated the body was around 10 months old, suggesting she died in early October 2024.

Her death sparked intense media speculation, particularly concerning the cause of death and her family’s alleged refusal to claim her body. Her father has now said he suspects foul play.

“I haven’t been to Karachi myself, but I sense something terrible happened to my daughter. Her body was found lying face down, and the condition of the flat’s doors seemed suspicious,” he told the media. “Whoever harmed her must not fear God.”

Despite their grief, Humaira’s parents commended the role of Sindh Police in handling the case, stating that officers were carrying out their duties responsibly.

‘She was financially stable’

Rejecting claims that the actress had fallen on hard times, Dr Asghar said, “She earned well and was financially stable. In fact, we found expensive clothes in her room that she had never worn. If she missed a rent or utility payment, it could only have been after her death.”

He added that Humaira was deeply invested in her work and cared for underprivileged children.

“She never asked for her share of the family property. She was not the kind to say something so petty,” he said.

Last contact in August 2024

Humaira’s mother, who also spoke to the media, recounted her last conversation with her daughter, which took place at the end of August 2024.

“She said her mobile SIMs were being blocked and that she was under harassment. But she didn’t go into detail,” the mother said. “After that, her phone went off. I kept trying, but I had no one in Karachi to turn to.”

She added that she initially assumed her daughter might have travelled abroad, possibly to Turkey, and was waiting to hear from her. “I had a strange feeling, a kind of anxiety in my heart before the news broke. And then, suddenly, I saw it on television. I was shocked.”

Parental consent to pursue artistic ambitions

According to the family, Humaira pursued her artistic ambitions with full parental consent. “She was always inclined toward the arts. She studied at NCA and later entered the entertainment industry. I supported her decision,” said her father.

The parents also denied media rumours of a rift between them and their daughter, asserting that she visited the family every couple of months and remained in close contact.
