Canada become the latest team to reach the 2026 T20 world cup.
Canada has officially become the latest side to secure their spot at the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, set to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
The team booked their place after an unbeaten campaign in the Americas Regional Final, held on home soil.
The qualification was confirmed when Canada thrashed The Bahamas and saw nearest rivals Bermuda slip to a surprise defeat at the hands of the Cayman Islands, which gave Canada an unassailable lead in the standings with a game to spare.
Led by Nicholas Kirton, the Canadian side kept their momentum going with a final-day win over Bermuda, finishing three wins ahead of any other team in the group.

The 2026 T20 World Cup will not be Canada’s first foray into the competition.
They were one of the teams that played in the 2024 T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies and will be making back-to-back appearances at cricket’s shortest format’s showpiece event.
They now join 12 other teams who have already qualified for the 2026 edition: hosts India and Sri Lanka, as well as Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, Ireland, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, the United States, and the West Indies.

The remaining seven spots in the 20-team tournament will be decided via regional qualifiers.
Two teams will come from Europe, two from Africa, and three from the Asia-East Asia Pacific Qualifier set to take place in October 2025.
For now, though, Canada can celebrate a job well done and start preparing for another big stage in 2026.
