An Air India aircraft crashed into the hostel of Ahmedabad’s medical college during lunchtime, resulting in the deaths of five MBBS students and injuring several others, according to Indian media reports.
The hostel’s mess sustained the most damage, with many medical students and doctors reportedly present at the time of the incident. There are fears the death toll may rise.
According to Flightradar24 data, communication with the aircraft was lost at an altitude of 625 feet less than a minute after takeoff.
