Punjab government lifts ban on wheat transport

Extra wheat import caused over $1 billion loss: Food Minister

The Punjab government lifts the ban on wheat transport.

In a big relief for farmers across Punjab, the provincial government has officially allowed the free movement of wheat, removing all restrictions on its transportation within and outside the province.

According to the latest directive, wheat can now be transported freely across interprovincial borders without any need for special permits.

This decision is expected to greatly benefit farmers, enabling them to sell their produce at competitive market rates and receive the full value of their crop.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved a deregulation and free market policy for wheat procurement.

For the first time in Punjab’s history, wheat procurement will also involve the private sector, breaking the traditional monopoly of government agencies in the buying process.
