The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has indicated that the anti-graft agency has no intention or justification to arrest Pakistan Muslim League-Q leader Moonis Elahi.
All speculations are false, according to the NAB, which published a statement on Wednesday.
In a statement, the watchdog added, “Arresting Moonis Elahi is not even a question.”
The NAB statement adds, “There is no current inquiry against Moonis.”
It’s worth noting that the NAB explanation came after Punjab Assembly Speaker Pervaiz Elahi indicated ruefully in an interview with a private television station that his party was being pursued by the NAB.
“We started receiving threats from NAB” after Moonis Elahi delivered his speech, Elahi added.
“The administration is under threat from its own people,” Pervez Elahi said.
In the meantime, the NAB Executive Board convened on Wednesday and approved 11 further probes and two additional investigations in the matters before it.
The executive board of the National Accountability Bureau has approved a probe into former Sindh Inspector General Ghulam Haider Jamali, according to a NAB official.
