Why is Murree smog free?
Zahid Hussain, the in-charge of the Meteorological Department, explains that, “The primary reason is that it has a high altitude of 7,000 feet. It has open air, dense forests, and minimal vehicular traffic compared to other cities.”
Murree’s charming beauty is increased by bright sunlight and a clear blue sky, giving residents and visitors a welcome break from polluted city environments.
“The weather here is very pleasant, with no smog at all, unlike other cities still enveloped in smog,” said a visitor.

Locals residents highlight the need for planting more trees and taking collective action to control air pollution across Punjab.
With sustained efforts, similar conditions could be achieved elsewhere.
