Pakistan Railways launches two special trains for Sikh pilgrims.

Pakistan Railways has announced the operation of two special trains to facilitate the Sikh community for their annual pilgrimage.

Timings of trains for Sikh pilgrims

The first special train will leave from Karachi on November 12 at 10:30 PM, with a shuttle joining from Larkana at midnight to connect at Rohri station.

The second special train will depart from Nankana Sahib on November 16 at 4 PM, with a return shuttle from Rohri to Larkana for the pilgrims’ convenience.

These services ensure accessible transportation for the Sikh pilgrims attending the annual religious ceremony at Nankana Sahib.

Rs. 8.5 million revenue generation

Recently, this train, which consists of 14 economy-class coaches, is expected to generate approximately Rs. 8.5 million in revenue and support Pakistan Railways’ goal to exceed Rs. 100 billion in revenue for the 2024-25 fiscal year.

In the previous fiscal year, Pakistan Railways achieved a record income of Rs. 88 billion, a 40 percent increase over the previous year.

Revenue sources included Rs. 47 billion from ticket sales, Rs. 28 billion from freight services, and Rs. 13 billion from leasing railway land and other channels.

PR CEO Amir Ali Baloch has attributed this success to service improvements.

He said Eid’s special trains achieved full bookings and reinforced public trust in Pakistan Railways’ services.

Pakistan Railways is the national, state-owned railway company of Pakistan with its headquarters in Lahore.
