Did Lt Gen Asif Ghafoor get pushed to retire from Pak Army?
Indian media platforms are claiming about key retirements within Pakistan Army, and reports sparked discussions by claiming that four lieutenant generals, including famous Lt Gen Asif Ghafoor, President of the National Defence University (NDU), have officially retired from service.
Former DG ISPR Asif Ghafoor, and newly appointed Chairman FPSC Akhtar Satti, Lt Gen Saqib Mehmood Malik, Chief of Logistics Staff; and Lt Gen Muhammad Ali, Defence Secretary, have also retired, claimed Rediff News.

The report claimed that Pakistan Army is going to promote four officers to the rank of lieutenant general in near future.
The news is false
However, when the team of The Asian Mirror cross verified it, they found that the whole propaganda was initiated by Indian media while anti-government handles widely shared this on X and other sites, without verifying the news.
Meanwhile, the sources familiar with the situation denied any such development in the army.

Earlier in September, last month similar news was also shared and was covered by digital media outlets.

ISPR, the military’s media wing Inter-Services Public Relations, has yet to speak on the matter and address the rumours.
Lieutenant General Asif Ghafoor HI is a three-star general in the Pakistan Army, currently serving as the president of the National Defence University since November 2023.
Previously, he served as Corps Commander Quetta and the 20th director general of the Inter-Services Public Relations.
