Why 2nd wife can’t become Islamabad Club member?

The Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat held a session on Friday to examine the membership criteria of the Islamabad Club, specifically addressing the question of why a member’s second wife is not allowed to join the prestigious club, situated close to Constitution Avenue.

Senator Saleem Mandviwala raised concerns about the club’s membership policies, questioning the rationale behind the exclusion of a second wife when no other clubs in Pakistan impose such restrictions.

He requested further details on this issue for the next meeting.

In response, the special secretary of the Cabinet Division clarified that the division has no involvement in the club’s membership decisions, deeming it an internal matter of the club.

The meeting, chaired by Senator Rana Mahmoodul Hasan, took place at the Parliament House and covered a range of topics.

These included a review of the Cabinet Division’s operational procedures and its subsidiaries’ performance over the last three years.

However, the new policy prohibits their participation in these auctions. The committee requested details of the Toshakhana gifts received after February 202
