Germany demands new citizens accept Israel’s right to exist.
Germany has shocked the world by introducing a new criteria for naturalization candidates to affirm Israel’s right to exist.
Germany is revamping citizenship laws aimed at combating rising anti-Semitism and far-right fervor.
This amendment, which takes effect on Thursday, indicates the government’s response to the recent Gaza conflict and Germany’s strong support for Israel.
The new naturalisation test will now ask on antisemitism, the validity of Israel as a state, and Jewish life in Germany.

This initiative reflects Germany’s commitment to countering antisemitic attitudes and solidifying its support for Israel, a stance reaffirmed by Chancellor Olaf Scholz and other officials following the October 7 attacks, emphasizing that Israel’s security is a core national interest for Germany.
This new law has initiated a heated debate within the country.
Germany has officially made “recognizing Israel” a condition for citizenship.
