Sania Mirza’s father denies Sania-Shami wedding rumours.
Sania Mirza and Mohammed Shami, two of India’s most celebrated athletes, have recently been at the center of marriage rumors, which have been unequivocally debunked.
Sania Mirza, heralded as India’s greatest female tennis player, and Mohammed Shami, a standout pace bowler instrumental in India’s advance to the ODI World Cup 2023 final, have both experienced notable personal changes in recent months.
Sania divorced Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik earlier this year, while Shami is separated from his wife, Hasin Jahan.
Sania’s father, Imran Mirza, addressed the speculation directly, telling NDTV, “This is all rubbish. She has not even met him,” putting to rest any notions of a forthcoming marriage between the two sports stars.

Post-divorce, Sania has turned her focus towards personal growth and spirituality.
She recently undertook the sacred pilgrimage of Hajj, which she described on social media as a ‘transformative experience.’
In her heartfelt post, Sania sought forgiveness for any past wrongdoings and expressed her hope that Allah would accept her prayers and provide guidance.
She conveyed her gratitude for the opportunity and requested her followers to keep her in their thoughts and prayers as she embarked on this profound journey.
“As I prepare for this transformative experience, I humbly ask for your forgiveness for any wrongdoings and shortcomings.”
“I am deeply fortunate and feel immensely grateful. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I embark on this journey of a lifetime. I hope to come back as a better human being with a humble heart and stronger Imaan.”
In addition to her spiritual endeavors, Sania has maintained her public presence.
She worked as a pundit during the French Open 2024 and made a notable appearance on comedian Kapil Sharma’s popular show.
During her time on the show, she reminisced about her illustrious career, particularly her successful partnership with Martina Hingis in 2015-16.
“I think all of the women sitting on this couch can understand this…when you hit a streak (winning back-to-back), athletes like to call it being ‘In the zone’… Honestly, I think that’s the best way I can describe what Martina and I had for those six months.”
