Pakistani team limit fan interactions in US after Haris Rauf’s brawl.

Following Pakistan’s early exit from the T20 World Cup 2024, members of the national men’s cricket team, including T20 captain Babar Azam and Shadab Khan, have significantly reduced their interactions with fans in the United States.

This decision comes in the wake of fast bowler Haris Rauf’s brawl, who clashed with a fan after the team’s premature departure from the tournament.

The News reported that a viral video on social media captured Rauf in an altercation with a fan who had made disparaging comments about him.

The footage showed Rauf, who was walking with his wife, Muzna, becoming confrontational despite attempts by his wife and others to restrain him.

Addressing the incident on his X account, Rauf explained his side of the story.

He acknowledged that public figures are subject to various forms of feedback, but he felt compelled to react when his family was disrespected.

Rauf stressed the importance of maintaining respect for people’s families, regardless of their professional status.

Rauf’s teammates have rallied around him, acknowledging that while fans have the right to voice their opinions, it should be done respectfully.

This incident has prompted the team to alter their public engagement, choosing to interact only with people they know well to avoid potential conflicts.

On the other hand, Rauf faced criticism for conceding 15 runs in the final over of a match against the US in Dallas, which allowed the hosts to tie the game and eventually win in the Super Over.

This performance drew the ire of some fans and added to the tension surrounding the team.
