Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour show triggers earthquake.

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concerts in Edinburgh, Scotland have made headlines not just for the pop sensation’s performances, but also for the surprising seismic activity triggered by her enthusiastic fans.

The British Geological Survey (BGS) noted that “ground shaking” was detected up to 6 kilometers from Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium during her concerts from June 7 to June 9.

The most significant tremors occurred during her renditions of “…Ready For It?”, “Cruel Summer,” and “champagne problems,” as the 73,000-strong crowd danced with such vigor that the seismic activity peaked at 160 beats per minute during “…Ready For It?”.

This phenomenon is not new for Swift’s concerts. Similar seismic activity was observed last year during her August 2023 performance at SoFi Stadium in California, and her show at Seattle’s Lumen Field in July registered seismic activity equivalent to a 2.3 magnitude earthquake.

The Edinburgh shows marked the beginning of the UK leg of The Eras Tour, which spans 17 dates and will culminate with an eight-night engagement at London’s Wembley Stadium.

In a notable financial milestone, Forbes confirmed in April that Taylor Swift has joined the ranks of billionaires, becoming the first artist to reach this status based solely on her music career, with an estimated net worth of $1.1 billion.

However, Swift has also faced environmental criticism.

As Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour show triggers earthquake, last month, BBC nature presenter and environmental advocate Chris Packham criticized her frequent use of private jets, describing it as “absurd.”

This came after Swift threatened legal action against social media blogger Jack Sweeney, who had logged her extensive private jet usage, documenting 178,000 miles of travel in 2023 alone.
