How many holidays will Pakistanis get on Eidul Adha 2024?
Pakistani citizens are gearing up for extended holidays in celebration of Eidul Adha 2024, expected to fall on June 17, according to a recent report by The Asian Mirror.
The precise date will be confirmed after the sighting of the Zilhajj moon, a customary practice in determining Islamic lunar calendar events.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has outlined two potential scenarios based on the lunar cycle.
Should the month of Zilqad consist of 29 days, Zilhajj would commence on June 8, leading to Eidul Adha on June 17.
Conversely, if Zilqad extends to 30 days, Zilhajj will start on June 9, shifting Eidul Adha to June 18.
In anticipation of the holiday, the government is expected to announce holidays from June 17 to 19.
However, with most government offices closed on weekends, the holiday period is likely to begin on June 15.

Final confirmation of the holiday schedule will follow consultations with the PMD and other relevant departments.
Eidul Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, is one of the two major Islamic festivals, celebrated by Muslims worldwide.
It honors the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s command.
The festival is marked by the ritual slaughter of animals, with the meat distributed among family, friends, and the less fortunate, continuing the tradition over the three days of Eid.
